Kate is enjoying scorching form on the boards

WHAT a great couple of days for Kate Maltby as she continues to tear up the indoor track in what has been a brilliant start to 2017.

Last week Kate (pictured with training partner Zoe Wassell) raced to a personal best over 3000m  in Glasgow, the race in which British international Laura Muir went on to smash the UK 500m record.

Kate and the rest of the field stopped at 3000m with the Bristol & West AC runner clocking a time of 9mins 01.97secs which aside from Muir’s split (8:59.39) is the fastest in the UK this year.

Kate will be hoping to break nine minutes soon and with that goal in mind stepped down to 1500m at the British Milers’ Club Indoor Championships in Sheffield yesterday for some sharpening work.

The move worked well as she finished third in 4mins 20.78secs to carve three seconds off her previous best.

“Kate is going really well and there is no doubt she is in shape to break nine minutes in the right race,” said coach Chris Frapwell.
