SAM Cotterell and Helen Newberry served up a Bristol & West AC double in the Bradley Stoke 10k yesterday.
Cotterell was a class above his rivals in the 548 finishers as he completed the course in a time of 34mins 48secs to leave him 1min 25secs ahead of Gloucester M50 runner Gary Hope.
Cotterell’s time was just four seconds outside the personal best of 34:44 he set in the Gloucester 10k last month.
Newberry ran superbly to place third overall and easily top woman in 36:17, a huge six minutes clear of Great Western Runners’ athlete Clare Leraz.
Newberry’s PB remains at 35:42 which she set over a much faster course in the highly competitive Simplyhealth Great Bristol 10k last month.
Third woman was over 35 veteran Caroline Nicholas of Hogweed Trotters in 42:47.
Sean Lee of B&W was fourth in 37:16 and the leading runner from Emerson’s Green Running Club was Daniel Fiteni in sixth (38:17) with GWR’s over 50 vet Rob Paddock eighth (39:28).
