Brookland shows no fear as she beats all the men to win the Horror

A SUPERB performance by Nicola Brookland to claim overall victory in the Hanham Horror multi terrain race yesterday.

Making a rare competitive appearance away from the parkrun circuit this year the Bristol & West AC runner beat all-comers in the 222-strong field to cross the line in 38mins 07secs, 25 seconds clear of Robert Farley from the host club Bitton Road Runners with veteran Mike O’Donnell third.

Arena AC’s Sophie Coleman was also prominent as she finished fifth overall and second woman while third woman in 14th was Westbury Harriers Sophie Voller (pictured left).

Top veteran over 50 was Westbury’s Ken Ham in 22nd and Nick Langridge of Thornbury Running Club claimed the over 60s prize.

Jack Bancroft got the Easter weekend off to a winning start with victory in the Exeter Fast Friday 10k.

The Bristol & West AC runner cruised to top spot in a time of 32mis 35secs, 54 seconds clear of the field.

Also on Good Friday Team Bath’s Eilidh Bell (pictured right) was top woman in the Chippenham 10 miles road race clocking a time of 60mins 36secs for 10th place overall, just ahead of Westbury Harriers’ Alex Hamblin (60:50).

Andrew Tarrant of Southville Runners placed eighth in 59mins 59secs with overall victory going to City of Stoke visitor Alex Brecker in a swift 50:51.
