HOW does Annabel Granger do it?
Two weeks after celebrating her debut in the Virgin London Marathon with a personal best of 2hrs 47mins 43secs she was back in action finishing top woman in the Tewkesbury half marathon today.
With the sun at last shining and the temperature almost summer-like Granger scorched to victory in a time of 1hr 24mins 08secs to place 20th overall – and over five minutes clear of her nearest rival.
Granger’s recent performances continue her excellent spell of form in which she finished runner-up overall in the Newport half marathon and ninth in the Bath half, clocking a time of 80mins 54secs, her fastest time since 2017.
Also in Tewkesbury today – and pictured with Granger – clubmate Felicity Russell was first veteran over 60 in 1:53.12
The men’s race was won by Cheltenham’s Phil Beastall in 69:23 from Clevedon AC’s Luke Murray (74:42). Also from Clevedon AC the trio of ben Burns (80:15), Steve Wood (80:28) and Tom Abrahams (82:49) finished 10th, 11th and 13th respectively while Matt Crocker was 22nd (84:33).
