THE consistency of Annabel Granger cannot be applauded enough as she gained another victory on the local circuit yesterday.

The Bristol & West AC veteran finished 14th overall of 373 runners at the popular and challenging Riverbank Rollick 9.6 miles multi terrain race organised by Thornbury Running Club.

Striding out: Chris Palmer (288)

Granger completed the course in a time of 1hr 12mins 25secs to finish over six minutes ahead of Elizabeth Spence of BAD Tri with Dursley Running Club’s Francesca Amigoni third. Granger’s B&W clubmate Caroline Mcaleese was fourth.

According to the UK Athletics Powerof10 statistics Granger was never beaten as a W45 runner last year and in many of those races she was an outright winner of the women’s race. Her form has truly been outstanding.

Matthew Battensby would have loved to have secured a B&W double but was well beaten by Jacob Tasker of Ogmore Phoenix Runners, with 1min 17secs separating the pair at the finish with Cheddar Running Club’s Mike Cowell third.

Benedict Bohane of the host club placed fifth with Westbury Harriers’ Chris Palmer sixth and second M40. Ed Broyd of Portishead Running Club also made the top ten in ninth.
