Millar’s hat-trick shows he is back in the winning groove

JACK Millar’s hat-trick of wins spanning the end of 2022 and start of 2023 shows he is starting to hit top form this winter.

On Saturday the Bristol & West AC runner (pictured below at the 2022 Midland Counties Championships) won the third Surrey Cross Country League fixture at Beckenham Place Park – representing his second claim club Thames Hare & Hounds – by 22 seconds.

That success came just six days after he romped to victory at the South West Championships in Somerset, retaining his regional title – and leading his club to a 16th successive team title – with a powerful display of front running.

Millar, of course, is renowned for his exploits on the country but he also showed a nice turn of speed on Boxing Day as he ended his racing year with an emphatic win in the Clevedon 4.

All of which suggests Millar is hitting his stride at the right time with the Midland Counties and English National Cross Country Championships looming in the coming weeks as we reach the business end of the season.
