FORMER Bristol & West AC clubmates Emily Diamond and Lily Owsley were able to share a memorable photo opportunity on the return home from Rio last week.
Diamond, who lives in Frome, was part of the Great Britain team that won the bronze medal in the women’s 4x400m relay while Owsley played in that thrilling shoot-out victory for GB women in the final of the hockey tournament against the Netherlands.
The multi-talented Owsley (pictured far left with Emily) was also an accomplished runner as a teenager and finished runner-up in the senior girls’ 800m at the English Schools’ Championships in Gateshead.
Ultimately she proved to be a far better hockey player and has established herself as a first choice striker n the GB team while Diamond will end the summer as one of Britain’s best 400m sprinters.
The pair were able to swap takes and compare each other’s medals on the celebratory BA flight home to London on Tuesday.
