IN the wake of the record-breaking victories in the On Running Bristol Track Club 5k road race there were a glut of personal bests on the Odd Down cycle circuit.

Bristol & West AC’s Natalie Bretherton took full advantage of the competition as she broke 17 minutes for the first time with a PB of 16:50, slashing 17 seconds off the time she ran under lights at Battersea in February.

That gave Bretherton sixth place overall with clubmate Kate Mactear back in 12th clipping five seconds off her 2012 best set over the same course.

In-between Sarah Wilson of Team Bath clocked a big PB of 16:56 while Wesbury Harriers’ Tilley Spinney smashed her PB by 1min 14secs to finish first under 20 woman in 20th overall – a cracking effort by her.

B&W’s Naomi Alywin (18:02) was three seconds off her PB but Penny Guess of Southville Running Club slashed over a minute off her PB with 18:28 in 32nd place.

B&W newcomer Hannah Green clocked an encouraging 18:45 in 38th just ahead of clubmates Sarah Everitt, who was first veteran over 55 (19:33) and Caz Buckeridge (19:36), racing the distance for the first time.

B&W’s Billie Williams has a best for the 5k in the parkrun of 20:35 so she smashed that with 19:43 in 44th with Tanya Chowdhury second W45 (20:09) just behind her and Sian Davies claiming the over 60s prize in 21:29.
