A GROUP of six parkrun events in Bristol, Bath and the surrounding area were recenty honoured as part of the West of England Celebration of Sport Awards.
The free weekly 5k runs, which are coordinated entirely by local volunteers, received the Outstanding Contribution to Sport and Physical Activity Award from Olympic silver medallist Colin Jackson, for their efforts in getting more people in the community active.
The events are held at 9am each Saturday throughout the year at Ashton Court Estate, Little Stoke Park, The Ridings Chipping Sodbury, Pomphrey Hill Playing Fields and Free Fields in Bath.
A 2k event for young athletes aged 4-14 also takes place at Little Stoke Park on Sunday mornings at 9am. For further information about all these local runs see the website at: www.parkrun.org.uk
