Jane is ready to mount a really big challenge in Madrid half marathon

JANE Faram has big hopes for the Madrid half marathon on Sunday.

Faram, who is a member of Southville Runners, is using the race to prepare for the Virgin London marathon on April 28th so will be looking for a confidence-boosting performance.

“Potentially I am hoping to beat my PB of last year at Cardiff of 1hr 23mins 28secs,” said Faram.

“But London is the main target for maybe a sub 3 hours time. I came quite close with 3:01 in Valencia (December 2018).”

Faram’s form this year has been encouraging with victory in the Ironwood Challenge – though her name initially failed to appear in the official results – in February and the Hatterall Sledge fell race.

She was also first woman at Green Man Ultra last month – clocking a time of 7hrs 26mins 07secs – to go second on the women’s hall of fame.

“That is probably one of my best achievements yet!” added Faram.

Then just two weeks ago Faram placed third place in the Big Cheese 15 miles multi terrain event. The Madrid half will present a different challenge altogether on a fast course with a high quality field but clearly Faram is strong and well prepared and it would be great to see her dip under 1hr 23mins.
