Hobbs girls revel in the mud at South West Schools’ showdown

WHAT a great week for the Hobbs sisters of Thornbury.

The sisters, who are both members of Westbury Harriers and coached by Pat Gallagher, have won medals at the Midland Counties then South West Schools’ Cross Country Championships.

Older sister Hannah, 16, won back-to-back silver medals first in the under 17 women’s race at Loughborough and then second in the inter girls’ race in Cheltenham.

Fourteen-year-old Hannah added silver in the junior girls’ race to her victory in the under 15s at the Midlands and for good measure also led the Avon squad of Imogen Maroney, Olivia Burton, Stephanie Cummins, Sophie Reed and Nancy Dineen to the team title.

“They were brilliant, weren’t they?” said Gallagher.
