Long jump ace Emily soars to gold in record-breaking victory

EMILY Wright soared to victory at the England Athletics Indoor Championships held in Sheffield.

The 17-year-old Bristol & West athlete and former Easy Runner athlete of the month winner cleared a season’s best of 6.18m to not only lift the under 20 women’s long title but as move to No 1 in the UK Rankings. Emily also broke the Welsh record.

There was also bronzes for clubmates Kurt Cameron in the under 15s pole vault and Rownita Marston in the under 20 women’s shot.

Team Bath’s Rory Howorth won silver in the under 15s 800m and North Somerset AC junior international Ada’Ora Chigbo came fourth in the under 20s high jump and shot.

Yate middle distance runner Ellie Leather came sixth in the under 20s 1500m.
