TEAM Bath high jumper Tom Gale flies out to Poland with the Great Britain on Sunday determined to make his mark in the World Junior Championships.

Gale (pictured below competing as a Higher Qualification athlete for Bristol & West AC in the British League) makes his international debut in the best form of his career with the latest success coming at the English Schools’ Track & Field Championships in Gateshead last weekend.TomGale2.17m(2)May2016

Representing Wiltshire the 17-year-old from Trowbridge won the senior boys’ high jump with a clearance of 2.12m and claim his first major title – he was runner-up in the World Junior trials last month .

While much was expected of Gale in Gateshead he won’t be among the British medal contenders in Poland so is looking forward to performing without any pressure.

“I am really looking forward to competing in my first international championships and the pressure is off as there won’t be any great expectation on me,” added Gale.

“I think I am currently 12th in the rankings so the aim in Poland will be to try and make the final and maybe even get into the top 10. I would be exceptionally happy to do that.”
