TOM Gale has qualified for the final of the high jump at the IAAF World Under 20 Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
Gale, who is a first claim member of Team Bath AC but also competes for Bristol & West AC in the British Men’ League under the higher qualification rule, is one of 13 athletes who made the final which will be held tomorrow.
Yesterday Gale (pictured left) competed in group B of two pools of 12 (total of 24 competitors).
The Trowbridge-based athlete had first time clearances at 2.00m, 2.05m, 2.09m, 2.13m and cleared 2.16m on his second attempt.
His GB team-mate, Rory Dwyer, unfortunately did not go through to the final.
Gale went into the competition equal 16th in the world in the under 20 rankings and is hoping to improve on his performance and ranking tomorrow.
