Hannah smashes PB again to win Newport 10k

A great run from Hannah Alderson today as she won the Newport 10k – and smashed her personal best again!

The Bristol & West AC runner (pictured) took full advantage of the super fast, flat course to win in a time of 34mins 22secs, which craved a huge 39 seconds off the time she ran when winning the Bristol 10k in September.

“Newport is a very flat and fast course and a very well organised event so I was really impressed,” said Alderson.

“The only down side was the bleak weather but that didn’t really affect the times. I really enjoyed the race and I am chuffed with the time.”

Alderson was always in the lead of the women’s race and towed her next two pursuers to PBs as well.

Alderson’s 10k PB before the start of the year had stood at 35:51 set nine years ago, the same year she made her debut Great Britain at the European Cross Country Championships in the under 23 women’s race.

Alderson has suffered a few ups and downs since then so it is great to see her back racing again and enjoying the sport.
