Charlotte’s joy as she ends 2016 on another high

CHARLOTTE Taylor-Green was delighted with her performance in the Nos Galan road race last night.

The Bristol & West AC runner finished fifth in the women’s 5k race in a time of 16mins 56secs with victory going to Charlotte Arter in a course record time of 16:00.

“What a way to end 2016 with another PB for 5k confirmed (as) previous PB was 17.27……bring on 2017,” said Charlotte.

Just five days’ earlier Charlotte finished fourth in the Clevedon 4 miles race on Boxing Day (pictured left), which was won by her clubmate Kate Reed.

In the men’s race top west runner was Gloucester AC’s British international Alex George in third (14:18) with Cornishman Dan Nash sixth (14:38) and Bristol & West’s Steve Mitchell seventh (14:43).

Owain Jones, also of B&W, came 10th (14:59).

Arter’s time sliced eight seconds off the record she set herself last year which itself smashed the previous best held by Andrea Whitcombe of 16 mins 44 secs.

The men’s record, jointly held by Bristol & West’s Robbie Bugden and Dewi Griffiths at 14mins 17secs, was also broken by Kristian Jones with 14;11 from Ieuan Thomas (14:13) and then George.
