Baker rises to challenge but Lucy is edged into second

FORMER marathon international runner Lucy MacAlister had to settle for second place in the 30th Wellington Monument race on Sunday.

The Bristol & West AC runner (pictured left) finished half a minute adrift of Taunton AC’s Hannah Taunton, who was only two seconds off making the top three overall.

Top man was Chichester Runners’ James Baker as he enjoyed one of the biggest winning margins in the event’s history with Taunton’s Ben Tull virtually three minutes behind.

Clevedon AC’s Jason Rowles was sixth and leading Weston AC runner was Richard Brent in 18th. There were 172 finishers.
