Two-times World champion: That’s Charlotte Taylor-Green

Just champion! Charlotte Taylor-Green (fourth from the left) with the 800m women

Just catching up with some recent news from the World Masters Track & Field Championships in Finland that certainly deserves a big mention here.

Charlotte Taylor-Green, who is now a first claim member of Clevedon AC but still represents Bristol & West AC on the track, has steadily been building her form and fitness this summer and she hit a peak at just the right moment in Tampere.

Contesting both the W35 800m and 1500m Taylor-Green raced to victory in both events clocking 2:12.76 to win the 800m and 4:36.35 for the metric mile.

The former is a season’s best and puts Taylor-Green sixth in the South West Rankings while her 1500m time was her second quickest this summer.

But more than that they add up to two terrific wins on the global stage as she demonstrated her tactical awareness and fierce determination so Taylor-Green deserves huge credit for her success.

Also making the podium in Finland was her B&W clubmate Mike Wilsmore, who won bronze in the M35 1500m with 3:53.31.

Anne Dockery placed sixth in the W70 1500m and fifth in the 5000m while Pete Mountain made the finals of both the M65 800m (eighth) and 1500m (10th).
