Sprint ace Sprague is the Avon Schools’ hero

THE Avon star at the England Schools Championships in Gateshead was undoubtedly sprinter Cameron Sprague.

Ranked No 1 in the UK and a hot favourite Sprague, who is a student a Norton Hill and competes for Team Bath AC, showed he can handle the pressure with an emphatic victory in a time of 22.40secs.

The only other Avon meal winner was Rownita Marston in the senior girls’ shot.

But there were also 13 other top ten performances the most notable of which were a fourth for sprinter Melissa Roberts in the senior 200m, fifth for Anna Burt in the inter 800m and sixth places for Ben Holbrook and Daniel Brooks.
