Southville runners power to top results in the Exmoor Stagger

THE Exmoor Stagger multi terrain race is certainly among the toughest on the west country circuit so well done to Simon Marchant of Southville Running Club for making the top 20.

Marchant claimed 12th place overall in a time of 2hrs 18mins 18secs for the 16 miles test with victory going to Mark Hopkinson of Torfaen Runner sin 1:53.28 – six minutes clear of the field.

Westbury Harriers’ Chris Palmer completed the course in a time of 2hrs 30mins 59secs to finish 19th while GWR’s Lee Mark was 31st in 2:42.31.

In the women’s race Bitton Road Runners’ Charlotte Tuck finished 13th (3:12.43) with Southville RC’s Laura Pease 17th (3:28.38).

Top veteran over 35 was Southville’s Katie Egan (2:36.57) while clubmate Phil Richards lifted the over 40s prize (2:30.26).
