JENNY Jagger produced a superb performance to finish second British athlete in the Cardiff half marathon today.
The Bristol & West AC runner (pictured receiving her medal today) smashed her personal best with a time of 73mins 01secs to not only claim the silver medal in the British Championships but also secure a place in the GB team for the World Half Marathon Championships next year.
The selectors had already stated before the race that the first two British women would be automatically selected as long as they ran inside the qualifying standard f 74 minutes and both Jagger and top Brit Jess Coulson did that in style.
Stroud’s Rachel Felton finished strong to claim third place and was also inside the 74 minutes target as she smashed her lifetime best with 73:41so is in pole position to bag one of the three discretionary places available though will have to wait until next year to see if she makes it.
