Puzzle emerges over Bristol & West AC women’s team bronze

*Celebrating: Bristol & West AC’s senior women were awarded the team bronzes on the day but official results now indicate they finished fourth*

So, did Bristol & West AC’s senior women win the team bronze medals at the Midland Counties Cross Country Championships?

On the day the quartet of Chelsea Baker, who finished an excellent fourth, Jessie Sanzo (18^th), Catie O’Donoghue (29^th) and Cadie Hibberd (37^th) were awarded the medals on the day and had the official photos taken.

But in official results published later in the week the club was listed as finishing in fourth overall behind Charnwood AC (42pts), Coventry Godiva (46) and Leamington AC (69).

It was the Leamington club that didn’t figure in these initial results on the day and used for the prize-giving so that raises the possibility that maybe one of their runners – and the latest results indicate positions of 11^th, 15^th, 17^th and 26^th – lost their chip and/or it failed to recognise her as she crossed the finish line.
