Peters forced to end season with illness

RICHARD Peters will not be defending his mile title at the British Milers’ Club Grand Prix meeting at Oxford on Saturday.

The Bristol & West AC runner has won the event for the past two years and while he is back in Yate after finishing his degree in Boston he won’t be racing again this season.

“Rich has suffered a recurrence of glandular fever and the doctors in America told him to take a complete rest so he will not be racing again this summer,” said coach Mike Down.

“He is back home now but his main priority is looking for a job and hopefully he will start getting fit again over the winter.”
