BRISTOL & West AC’s Callum Jones scorched to a superb victory in the latest British Milers’ Club regional meeting at the Exeter Arena.
Showing his class Jones clocked a time of 3mins 49.74secs to finish over five seconds clear of Cornishman Finn Birnie.
It was a season’s best by Jones and only just outside his lifetime best of 3:48.31; with stronger competition on the night he would surely have got closer to that PB but surely it is only a matter of time.
But as it stands the time puts Jones seventh in the South West Rankings for 2021 and second fastest in the club behind Mike Wilsmore (3:45.16).
In a decent quality race the first seven runners all dipped inside four minutes while in eighth B&W’s Josh Moody ran a season’s best of 4:00.03.
