SO on the blog earlier this week I wrote about the exploits of Ellie Wallace after her three personal bests in seven days.
Now I am happy to report that Bristol & West AC runner Kurt Taylor has been enjoying some equally terrific form of late.
On Saturday Taylor smashed his personal best over 5,000m by a whopping 11 seconds with a time of 14mins 02.59secs at the British Milers Club Saucony Grand Prix meeting at Watford.
Then three days later Taylor headed across to Wiltshire for the Westbury 5k road race promoted by Avon Valley Runners and billed as the fastest course in the West Country.
Clearly in good shape Taylor set himself the personal challenge of beating the course record set by B&W clubmate Harry Allen a few years ago at 14mins 30secs – and scooping the £150 bonus.
And he did just that, winning in 14mins 26secs after a good tussle with Bath University student Max Davis, who has recently joined B&W as a Higher Claim athlete and came in 12 seconds behind. It is good to see him steadily returning to form after a tough few years.
In third was B&W veteran Owain Jones in 15:16.
Top woman was Molly Rasch of Dorset Doddlers (17:56) from Team Bath junior Freya Spruit (18:11).
Next up I gather Taylor might be having a go at the Towpath 10k this weekend and if he does line up it will take a good man to beat him.
