Ellie edging ever closer to sub 16 minutes 5000m after PB

FOR the second successive race Ellie Wallace broke her personal best over 5000m and is now tantalisingly close to dipping inside 16 minutes for the first time on the track.

The North Somerset AC runner (pictured left) clocked 16mins 01.22secs to finish third in the Saucony British Milers Club Grand Prix race at the Sportcity Stadium, Manchester.

That time sliced 8.40secs off the PB she set in the opening Grand Prix at Birmingham University two weeks earlier and consolidates her second place in the South West Rankings behind Poole AC’s GB international Melissa Courtney-Bryant (15:25.90).

Also racing at the meeting was Clevedon AC’s Charlotte Taylor-Green, who clocked a season’s best of 2:13.73 to finish third in the 800m C race while Westbury Harrier junior Seamus Robinson was eighth in the 1500m E race in 3:56.84, just outside his PB of 3:56.57.
