CHRIS Stone is today waiting to find out the cost of winning his first British senior medal.
The Bristol & West AC sprinter’s determination to make the podium in the 200m saw him lunge at the finish line, an effort that unfortunately resulted in him crashing to the indoor track in Sheffield.
“I am in a lot of pain,” said Stone today as he prepared to go the BRI to determine the full extent of the damage to his shoulder.
Stone was given fourth place in the race but got the British Championships bronze as third place – by just 0.04secs – went to David Lima of Portugal.
Elsewhere there was a PB for Charlotte Green in the 800m on Saturday but that may have taken the edge off her 3000 the following day when she finished 10th and was just four seconds off her 2015 best. Nonetheless, another cracking weekend for Charlotte.
In the men’s 1500m Steve Mitchel came a creditable sixth but Mike Wilsmore just missed out on making the final.
