Julia is runner-up in Chippenham half marathon

JULIA Belyavin finished runner-up in the Chippenham half marathon yesterday.

The Bristol & West AC runner (pictured below left) clocked a time of 1hr 24mins 42secs and was well adrift of Chichester’s Rebecca Moore, who reclaimed her title – which she last on in 2014 – in a course record of 1:15.25.

Westbury Harriers’ Lucy Richens also made the top ten in ninth clocking 1:31.19.

Paul Martelletti cruised to victory in the men’s race finishing almost five minutes ahead of Stroud’s Alastair Cambell.

Chippenham half marathon – men: 1 Paul Martelletti (Run Fast) 68:41; 2 Alastair Cambell (Stroud) 1:13.38; 3 Rich Ayling (AVR) 1:14.33; 4 Jim Webb (TB) 1:16.24; 5 Mike Rose (AVR) 1:17.10; 6 Robin Loftus (Stroud) 1:17.27.

Women: 1 Rebecca Moore (Chichester) 1:15.25; 2 Julia Belyavin (B&W, W35) 1:24.42; 3 Wendy Nicholls (Ciren, W45) 1:27.14. 9 Lucy Richens (WH, W35) 1:31.19. 1,505 finishers.
