City Harriers’ Luke Prior and Tom Mortimer of Stroud AC have been selected to represent England at a cross country meeting in Spain next weekend (JAN 21/22).
Mortimer is particularly delighted as he opened his 2017 campaign with second place in the South West Championships senior men’s race last weekend – the day after celebrating his 18th birthday.
“It will be my second England Under 20s vest and I am really excited about that,” said Mortimer.
“It is great to be back racing again after my injury problems and I am buzzing. It is a real boost.”
Luke (pictured left) is coached by his dad Simon – well known in the Bristol area both as a runner in the past and now as a coach.
“This is a great opportunity for Luke and it is good to see the England selectors giving some international experience to runners just below the top level,” said Simon.
