Why Studley was so happy with his ninth place in Leeds 10

leedsabbeydash2016startDAN Studley has professed himself satisfied with his ninth place in the Leeds Abbey Dash 10k.

That may sound strange coming just a year after the Bristol & West AC runner (pictured far right at the start of the 2016 event on Sunday) won the event to be crowned England 10k champion but that doesn’t tell the whole story as Studley ran a persona best of 29mins 40secs on Sunday to shave three seconds off the time he ran a year ago.

“Zero complaints off eight weeks building up,” said Studley, who has just returned from a training camp in Portugal.

“A time of 29:40 for 6th in the National 10k Champs – a PB and a tidy negative split.”

But top west performance came from Cheltenham’s ex-professional footballer Graham Rush, who smashed his PB to finish third and win his first national medal.

“It was a brilliant run by Graham and I think the best run he has ever had,” said coach Dave Newport.
