Muddy marvels: Midland Counties team-mates Natalie Griffiths (363) and Charlotte Taylor-Green (241)
CHARLOTTE Taylor-Green made the long trip north to represent the Midland Counties in the latest British Cross Challenge fixture at Stirling.
Conditions were truly traditional with lashings of mud with wet, cold weather so Taylor-Green, far from her best, can take some satisfaction in battling her way to the finish in 22nd place.
“I wasn’t in the shape I would like to have been in but you can’t control the uncontrollable!” said Taylor-Green, who runs for Clevedon AC.
“As athletes illness and injuries happen, therefore it’s important to remember sometimes to give yourself a break, don’t put that pressure on your self and just have fun.”
Wise words indeed.
Bristol & West’s Natalie Griffiths was also in the Midlands team and she, too, performed below-par. Just a week after finishing a solid sixth in the South West Championships Griffiths placed a disappointing 71st.
