NEW Westbury Harriers’ signing Jimmy Deane is celebrating a fine victory in the Westonbirt House Christmas 10k at the weekend.
Deane (pictured above) only made his debut for the Harriers the previous weekend in the Gwent Cross Country League event staged at Blaise Castle finishing 155th.
“Jimmy is a really good runner and I have been trying to get him to join a club for years,” said Westbury coach Jason Daniel.
On Sunday Deane clocked a time of 37mins 21secs to win the race at Westonbirt, Wiltshire, 20 seconds clear of Edward Hall.
Previously Deane has raced regularly on the local circuit tackling everything from 5ks to the half marathon. Now with the support of the Harriers it will be interesting to see how fares in 2020.
