BRISTOL & West athlete Tia Jackson claimed the best result of her career as she won a silver medal at the England Athletics Championships, in Bedford.
The 14-year-old finished runner-up in the under 15 girls’ long jump to add a second silver to the one she won at the English Schools’ Championships the previous month.
In addition Jackson also finished sixth in the final of the 100m.
Her medal was a rare highlight from a very small contingent of local athletes who made the trip to Bedford.
Form Westbury Harriers Abdi Hasan (pictured leftwith Hannah Hobbs during the winter season) ran well for fifth in the under 15 boys’ race but it was Team Bath’s Rory Howorth (pictured below right in action this season) who really caught the eye as he clocked a PB to win the bronze and make up for his fourth pace in the English Schools’ 1500m.
From North Somerset AC Esther Leong should feel proud of her fifth pace in the under 17 women’s pole vault. The 16-year-old cleared 3.31m while clubmate Caroline Walder was 11th with 3.11m.
Team Bath’s Anna Burt was third in the under 17 women’s 800m and clubmate Jenna Blundell won silver in the under 17s 80m hurdles to give Team Bath three medals.
