There is no stopping Kelly as she now shines on the country

KELLY Dicks’ remarkable year continued with arguably the best cross country run of her career at the third Gwent League meeting at the weekend.

Dicks, who is a member of Great Western Runners, achieved her highest ever placing at the race in the Pembrey Country Park near Swansea when she finished sixth.

On song: Kelly Dicks has been piling up the personal bests in 2021

It was the first time Dicks has made the top ten of the event as a senior and, ironically, her previous best of 13th was over the same course on December 3rd 2017.

Since then her best result was 22nd at Chepstow in February 2020 so it is clear to see that her sixth on Saturday represents a big leap forward.

It should probably come as no surprise after the form that Dicks has been showing recently.

Only last month she clocked a PB of 29mins 26secs at the Weston Prom 5 while in October she notched up lifetime bests of 18:05 in the Parkrun, at Clevedon Salthouse and completed the London Marathon in 2:58.41 breaking the three hours barrier for the first time.

In addition, she has also run PBs at 5k (18:16), 5 miles (29:26) and the half marathon (84:03) this year making 2021 the best of her career to date – so far.

And on the evidence there is much more to come.
