The Reed sisters are back on track!

THIS will be a good quiz question for the future – when did the Reed sisters last link up to compete for the same track team?

Well Kate, now aged 33, linked up with 27-year-old younger sister Emma to represent Bristol & West AC in their opening UK Women’s League Division One match at the Kip Keino Stadium on Sunday.

It is amazing to note that Kate (pictured below left) was running her first track race since the 10,000 final at the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008 since when hKateReed2er career has stalled through a luckless combination of injury and illness.

So to return and win the 1500m B race in a time of 4mins 30.60secs was a terrific effort on her part.

Emma has also raced infrequently on the track in recent years and her fourth pace in the 800m B race (2:18.53) was her first time back on the surface since a 3000m steeplechase in California four years ago.

As to the follow-up question as to when was the last time before Sunday the sisters teamed up for Bristol & West I’ll await guidance!
