KEIRA Devereux can look back at another positive season after finishing the summer inside the top ten of the UK Rankings.
The North Somerset AC runner improved her personal best dramatically from 2mins 18.95secs in 2021 to 2:10.28 to place eight in the UK Under 17 lists and top in the South West for her age group.
But as that time was posted in only her second 800m of the season at the British Milers’ Club Grand Prix at Birmingham University on May 14th failure to go even quicker may feel rather frustrating.
Nonetheless, her coach Julian Emery insisted they both learned a lot from the campaign and Devereux is now in a good pace to consolidate winter and then push on next summer when she enters in the under 20s age group.
“We probably pushed on a bit early with her but she was in great shape but unfortunately a holiday the week before English Schools and getting back on the Thursday didn’t help,” said Emery.
“We tried different sessions with her this season as I knew she was flying but lacking in endurance so we need to work on that over the winter.
“Then hopefully another improvement will come next season as an under 20.”
