Talbot smashes PB in Switzerland

DANNY Talbot gave the British selectors gave an emphatic message that he deserves to be on the plane to the World Championships in Beijing as he broke his personal best in Lucerne on Tuesday.

The Trowbridge Tornado was under pressure to run inside the qualifying standard of 20.50secs after finishing runner-up in the trials with a season’s best of 20.61secs.

Talbot shrugged off that pressure to not only run under the qualifying mark but also shave 0.06secs off his 2014 personal best with a time of 20.30secs for third place in the B race.

It lifted him to second in the UK Rankings behind trials winner Zharnel Hughes and virtually guarantees that Talbot will now be heading to China for his first senior World Championships.
