DAN Studley opened his indoor season with a sparkling time of 3mins 47.9secs at the Cardiff Grand Prix on Saturday.
The 24-year-old former Easy Runner athlete of the month (pictured right) has just returned from a spell of warm-weather training in Portugal and clearly it went well as he sped around the track, expertly paced by clubmate Steve Mitchell, for the quickest time recorded in the UK this winter.
“It is nice to start 2016 with a win and a solid 3:47 clocking,” said Studley.
“Turns out this running indoors stuff is pretty fun!”
Interesting it was Studley’s first 1500m indoors for five years since finishing ninth (4:12.25) in the UWC Open meeting on the same track.
Since then Studley has improved his 1500m best to 3:43.64 outdoors and he is hopeful of betting that this summer.
