ATHLETES, fellow coaches and officials from not just Bristol & West AC but across the West Country have been paying tribute to Mike Strange, who this week held his last coaching session.
An immensely popular figure in the sport Strange, who has been a member of the club for 50 years and filled every role apart from chairman, has decided it is time to blow his whistle on his coaching duties as one of the club’s premier sprints and hurdles experts but will still be on the scene helping with administrative duties.
“At my last session on Monday I was given some gifts by athletes and people but I said it should have been me giving out the gifts as I have enjoyed my coaching so much,” said Strange, 79.
But Strange promised we haven’t seen the last of him yet!
“Carol (his wife) and I will still be helping out with time-keeping and stuff next summer,” added Strange.
