Somerset Levels marathon is cancelled

THE Somerset Levels & Moors marathon may have been cancelled but definitely going ahead on Sunday will be the Battle of Sedgemoor 10k road race.

The event has been running for many years now and is a very popular 10k with a good chance of achieving a personal best over a one lap circular loop on rural roads through the villages of Drayton and Muchelney and back to Langport.

Indeed, the course records set by Cardiff AC’s Nick Comerford (29mins 41secs in 2000) and Bideford’s Vicky Pincombe (34:26 in 2001) reflect that – and by today’s standards are unlikely to ever be beaten.

The race is held in Langport, Somerset and the race HQ is The Langport Arms Hotel courtesy of the owners Richard and Malcolm who we are forever grateful to.

The course has 1k markers for pace judgement with one drinks station at about 6k, and a sponge station at about 4k.
