Robinson ends top week with league victory

In form: Ben Robinson has enjoyed a good week on the country

NEW Bristol & West AC recruit Ben Robinson cruised to victory in the latest Gloucestershire Cross Country League race at Cotswold Farm Park on Saturday.

Robinson, who was racing in the colours of his former club Gloucester AC, finished 28 seconds clear of Jacob Pickering with Welshman Phil Matthews of Parc Bryn Back a further 29 seconds adrift in third.

Robinson was racing just six days after helping B&W retain their team title at the South West Inter-Counties Championships as he finished seventh.

Leading Westbury Harrier in Saturday’s race was Ben Rawlins in seventh with clubmate John Parker 10th. Sandwiched in-between was junior James Harrod of Thornbury Running Club, earning him top place in the under 20 men’s age group.

In the women’s race, which was ran along with the under 17 men, Westbury Harrier junior Tilly Spinney finished a fine fourth to follow up her impressive fourth in the junior age group at the South West Championships the previous weekend.
