BEIJING Olympian Kate Reed posted her fastest 5k road time for four years in the Yeovilton 5k road race on Wednesday evening.
The Bristol & West AC runner (pictured right) finished fifth overall from a field of 184 runners in a time of 16mins 18secs well clear of Taunton AC’s Hannah Taunton in second (18:09) with Emma Reed third (18:18).
Reed also won the May race in 16:33 while her fastest tie on the course last year was 16:30. Before that she last ran the event in 2012 when she recorded 16:05.
Reed’s best 5k time on the road remains 15:36 at the London Hydro Active Women’s race in 2007 while on the track she has run 15:29.10 for the distance, also in 2007.
It was her second race in four days having won the 1500m B race for the club in the UK Women’s League match on Sunday.
As in May top man was Taunton AC’s Phil Burden (15:03) with ex-Bristol & West AC runner Phil Wylie runner-up (15:18) with James Denne of Honiton Running Club third (15:49).
