Portishead Running Club reveal exciting new race

GordanoMarathonPORTISHEAD Running Club has revealed details of an exciting new race for the winter.

The Gordano Round Marathon will be held on Sunday 14th November is now open for entries and the route will follow the Gordano Round waymarked route around Portishead, Clevedon and Abbots Leigh.

The route will require self-navigation but runners will follow trails, coast path and woodland tracks – and six miles of tarmac- as they navigate the 27 miles and 750 metres of climb and marshals will be in place at key points.

“Previous marathon experience is recommended and there will be a cut-off time of 7 hours,” said the club in its race blurb.

“Those runners not reaching the aid station at the Black Horse Pub (12.25 miles) within 3 hours will be retired and directed straight back to the finish at Gordano School.”

All profits from the event will be donated to the Children’s Hospice South West.
