Patched-up Bristol & West women strike silver in relays

ImogenAinsworthBRISTOL & West AC’s women’s team may have been short of their star runners but they were still strong enough to finish second in the Midland Counties Road Relay Championships at Sutton Park.

The quartet of Ellen Harrison, Julia Belyavin, Helen Sharpe and Imogen Ainsworth (pictured winning the Easy Runner/Bristol Post  athlete of the month competition) clocked a total time of 63mins 48secs to finish just over a minute behind Birchfield Harriers with Charnwood just 29 seconds back in third.

“Our first team was effectively wiped out with late withdrawals and yet we still managed to finish second,” said team manager Mike Down.

The fastest time by a local runner came from Imogen Ainsworth with 15mins 20secs on the final stage as she lifted Bristol & West from third to second.
