Millar nudges England selectors with Belfast success

JACK Millar’s terrific start to 2022 continued with an excellent run in the latest British Cross Challenge fixture, incorporating the  World Athletics International, Home Countries International and Celtic Challenge,  in Belfast yesterday.

The Bristol & West AC runner (pictured right in his Oxford University vest) had entered privately so will take great encouragement at beating two of the selected England representatives as he finished fifth overall.

Only the England pair of overall winner Zak Mahamed and Hugo Miler, who had a great first half of the season, placed ahead of him with Italy’s Iliass Quani second and Stuart McCallum of Scotland third.

Other England team runners Matt Stonier and Callum Johnson finished seventh and 17th respectively.

Hopefully next time the England selectors are handing out vests for a trip then Millar will be at the top of their list.

Millar opened the year with a resounding win in the South West Inter Counties Championships and will now be looking for another big performance at the Midlands next weekend.
