OFFICIALS from the Midland Counties Athletic Association are desperately seeking an alternative venue for the Midland Cross-Country Championships planned for Saturday.
The championships were due to be staged on Stafford Common (pictured left) but to due to the heavy rainfall large parts of the common are flooded and the trustees have withdrawn permission to use the course.
To find a new venue at this late stage represents a huge challenge for the association but a statement on their website says they are working hard to save this year’s event for which any runners have dedicated their training.
