TOM Merson unleashed another terrific performance to utterly dominate the First Chance 10k road race in Exeter.
The Bristol & West AC simply ran away from the field to win in an outstanding time of 30mins 09secs in what was in an effect a solo time trial.
That’s because Merson finished 2mins 34secs in front of runner-up Simon Longthorpe of Torbay (32:33) with Yeovil junior Philip Bridge third in 32:51.
So Merson’s last three 10k times now read a lifetime best of 29:50 in Leeds, 30:50 to win the Hangover race in Weston on New Year’s Day and now this 30:09 –which averages out at around 30mins 6secs. Fantastic stuff Tom.
Bristol & West junior Jason Drew was fifth in a personal best of 33:20, which carved a minute off the 18-year-old’s previous best set two years ago in Bristol.
