MEGAN Hornung was a mightily impressive winner of the under 17 women’s race as she made it three Gwent league wins in a row having missed the opening fixture.
Hornung’s winning margin of 1min 32secs from Caitlyn Jones of Aberdare was the biggest of the day to underline her superiority with her B&W clubmate Amy Nicholls third.
The win also cements Hornung’s lead in the overall standings as she is now two points ahead of Avon Valley Runners’ Freya Buglass with only the fifth and final fixture remaining at Swansea’s Singleton Park on March 19th.
North Somerset AC’s Alice Bridger-Morales just edged out Westbury’s Tilly Spinney but three seconds to win the under 20s race and the pair remain second and third overall.
Estelle Morgan of Westbury won the under 13 girls’ race and is second in the overall standings while clubmate Freya Smith won the novice girls’ age group on her first appearance in the league this winter.
North Somerset’s Joseph Finch was third in the under 13 boys’ but retains his overall lead and there was also a third place for clubmate Ben Collins in the under 15s age group.
On a good day for the North Somerset club Sam Gentry was top under 20 man finishing 33 seconds clear of his nearest rival.
B&W’s Ishmael Bradley had a solid win the under 17s finishing 15 seconds clear odd his nearest rival Alex Hammond of Avon Valley Runners and cut the overall lead to just one point heading into the final fixture.
B&W’s Fletcher Rogers third in the novice boys to go joint third in the overall standings but North Somerset AC’s Oliver Finch, who came seventh on Saturday, retains his overall lead courtesy of his two wins and a second places this season.
