Kelly’s a hero as she joins the sub three hours marathon club at last

Top form: Kelly Dicks in action at the Severn Bridge half marathon

KELLY Dicks will also remember the 2021 Virgin Money London Marathon with great pride after she finally joined the sub three-hours club.

Dicks, who is the chairwoman of Great Western Runners, clocked a time of 2hrs 58mins 41secs to carve 2mins 09secs off her previous best set at the Chester marathon three years ago.

Since that PB she has recorded 3:28.44 (Snowdonia, 2018), 3:10.40 (Abingdon, 2019) and this year 3:05.57 to finish sixth woman at the Shepperdine marathon in south Gloucestershire.

But her form had suggested a big PB was in the offing as Dicks smashed her PB in the Severn Bridge half (84:03) in August and the South West 5k PB Series (18:16) in July.
