IT is a big weekend for Kate Maltby.
The Bristol & West AC runner has had a great winter on the boards so far three times beating her personal best over 3000m, although frustratingly she has yet to break the nine minutes barrier.
But Kate should forget about times at the British Indoor Championships in Sheffield because it is position that counts in this event and on paper she has a real chance of a medal.
She faces tough opposition in the straight final at 5.20pm tomorrow with Olympian Steph Twell in the field along with other top Brits like Elinor Kirk (9:00.59 this season), Charlotte Arter (9:12.47), Eilish McColgan, Emelia Gorecka, Jessica Judd and Pippa Woolven, who no doubt will be getting a cheer from boyfriend Richard Peters.
Also look out for the Bristol & West AC trio of Steve Mitchel, Mike Wilsmore and Ben Westhenry in the heats of the men’s 1500m scheduled straight after the women’s 3k final.
